The winners of the recent Houston Land/Water Sustainability Forum´s Low Impact Development Design Competition in Urban Design will present their challenges and discuss how their project can be had at a lower cost to developers, which bodes well for their rapid adoption and implementation.
The entry "EaDo Promenade" will show how LID technologies can be used to have far reaching impact and be an educational resource for communities. In the entry, team members paired localized hydrological strategies that capture and use rain water with pedestrian oriented design, urban ecology and integrated architectural design guidelines that could leverage a neighborhood redevelopment and create new environments.
Kevin Sullivan, PE
A native of Houston, Kevin Sullivan received a B.S. in Civil Engineering at the University of Houston where he was named Outstanding Student by the Texas Society of Professional Engineers. He is a professional engineer and project manager at Walter P. Moore & Associates, Inc., a firm that has designed some of the most important urban spaces and systems in America. He was part of the team to win the 2010 Low Impact Development Competition presented by the Houston Land/Water Sustainability Forum in the Urban Redevelopment category. Kevin is also active in the Houston Branch of the American Society of Civil Engineers, where he currently serves as Land Development Chair.
