The American Society of Civil Engineers, in partnership with City of Houston District “I” Council Member James Rodriguez, the League of Women Voters, and Houston PBS is excited to announce “Infrastructure Day Houston” (I-Day Houston). I-Day Houston will be held Saturday, September 18, 2010, at the George R. Brown Convention Center and Discovery Green. The event will feature educational and family fun opportunities designed to highlight the impact of infrastructure on our quality of life as well as promote the importance of infrastructure investment. The event will include a debate between the 2010 Harris County judge candidates. Planned activities include:
Candidate meet-and-greet: all candidates on the November 2010 ballot will be invited to participate providing an opportunity for the public to meet the candidates in an informal setting.
Candidate Debates: Separate debates for the 2010 Harris County Judge and the Harris County Tax Assessor candidates.
Interactive, hands-on educational activities for children to explore engineering and better understand infrastructure.
Town Hall sessions providing the public a venue to discuss infrastructure topics.
Exhibit booths focused on infrastructure education such as the Texas Water Hog, displays of construction equipment, and the University of Houston’s concrete canoe.
Family fun activities, games, food, and live performances.
Voter registration booths will be available.
Texas Children’s Hospital’s Mobile Immunization Unit will participate in the event.
