Over the weekend of January 25 -26, six Houston Branch members attended the “Regions 3, 6, and 7 Meeting” at the Round Rock Marriott in Round Rock, Texas. The meeting consisted of three workshop tracks for college students, Younger Members, and Section and Branch Leaders. While these tracks targeted each specific group, there were several joint activities and sessions that brought everyone together for a weekend of learning and fun.
Regions 3, 6, and 7 consists of the entire central United States from Texas to North Dakota and Wyoming to Ohio. This presented a unique opportunity to share ideas that work and don’t work amongst Sections and Branches from 16 states, and also presents a great forum for networking and camaraderie. National awards were presented to representatives of each winning Branch or Section, and the Houston Branch brought home the award for Best Newsletter among Large Branches! The ideas and information brought home by the meeting attendees will no doubt win our Branch many more in the years to come.
You can be a part of the action at the Branch, Section, or even National levels of ASCE by participating on a committee, in a Board position, or any number of other fulfilling and worthwhile volunteer activities. ASCE is a great organization to be a part of, and it can only get better with input from a wide spectrum of members like you. So please visit the Houston Branch (http://www.ascehouston.org/), Texas Section (http://www.texasce.org/), or National (http://www.asce.org/) ASCE websites for more information on how you can get involved!
